Barbara D. Olinger, 78, of Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters, on Friday, November 11, 2016 at home.
Born Wednesday, December 29, 1937 in Harrisonburg, VA, she was a daughter of the late Edward Paul and Pearl Louise (Turner) Dull.
Barb was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she enjoyed playing dominos with her friends, trips to the casino, working in her garden, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Barb retired from the US Postal Service where she was Hanover’s first woman mail carrier and she was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge #763.
Barb is survived by her four daughters, Connie Trostle and her husband Bob of Hanover, Jody Tomecek and her husband Jerry of Abbottstown, Terry Olinger-Hummel and her husband Ed of Lebanon, Anne Test and her husband Brad of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Martha Price, Margaret Dull; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a sister Joanne Lord.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to Visiting Nurse Association Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison St, Hanover, PA 17331.
