Obituary
Phyllis Eleanor Brower, 92, entered into God’s eternal care, Monday, May 8, 2023 in her home she shared with her granddaughter and her family. Phyllis was born March 1,1931 in Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA, to parents William and Mary Anna Skipper. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband, George H. Brower, to whom she was married on November 19, 1955.
Phyllis loved working and built an incredible career in military intelligence, serving as a Budget Analyst. She did a wonderful job and she kept rising up the ladder. When she retired after 30 years of service, she was one of the highest ranking women in civil service at that time.
However, perhaps her greatest accomplishment was impacting the lives of those around her. Phyllis was loved by numerous family and friends. Everyone who met her loved her. Known to many as “Nana,” she was bright, witty, and a wonderful listener. Phyllis loved the Lord, and she loved people. She spent her whole life caring for everyone around her.
Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Darlene Brower Mangini and husband Craig, and Sherry Lee Kolar and husband Bob; 2 grandchildren, Joseph Burdis and wife Billie, and Loni Smith and husband Brad; three great grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, and Oliver; and her two sisters, Pat Eggleston and Janet MacAdam. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William “Bill” Skipper and Donald Skipper.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held on Monday, May 15th, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 12:00 pm at Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers (although she did love them!), memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331, or online at https://vnahanover.org/
The Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.kenworthyfh.com.
