Carroll “Manny” Hughes, age 78, born in Silver Run, MD to David and Pansy Hughes. Loving husband and father passed peacefully at the Hanover Hospital on June 14, 2014.
He was the retired owner of Manny’s Excavating. He was an avid sportsman, member of the Twin Racks hunting camp, Mc Sherrystown fish and game and he was known as the “Ole Salt” at the bay.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Sheila A.(Caler) Hughes; a son David Hughes of Reading; three grandsons, Jason Peifer Hanover, David and Dexter Hughes Reading; a great grandson William David Hughes; sisters Daisy Kump of Hanover, Betty Jo Gastley Hanover; and two brothers Sam Hughes Allentown and Larry Hughes of New Oxford.
In addition to his parents, Manny was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol A. Peifer; a sister, Ann Schuler, and a brother Leland Hughes.
Services will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contribution made to the National MS Society, 2040 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
