Olive Elizabeth Wick, 89, of Hanover, passed peacefully Monday, February 14, 2011 at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the wife of Alanson F. Wick, Sr., who died June 14, 1999.
Born April 12, 1921 in Baldwin, New York, she was the daughter of the late Francis W. and Jennie K. (Schuman) Miller.
Olive was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hanover and was actively involved in the United Methodist Women organization as well as the Mary Esther Circle for many years. During her years in Baldwin, NY, Mrs. Wick enjoyed being a member and leader of the Girl Scouts of America. Olive taught Sunday School and participated in her church choir at the First Church Baldwin United Methodist. Olive was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. Wick is survived by three children, a son Alanson F. Wick, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Rochester, Minnesota, a daughter Judith B. Rapp and her husband Dr. Thomas Rapp of Hanover, and a daughter Katherine R. Isabelle and her husband Neil of Cottekill, New York; three granddaughters, Christine Rapp and Kathryn Rapp, both of Hanover, and Diane Wick of Rochester, MN; and a brother, Francis W. Miller, Jr. of Chicago. In addition to her husband, Olive was predeceased by a granddaughter, Cheryl Wick.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wick will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 21 at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick Street, Hanover, with Reverend Thomas H. Jacobs officiating. The family will receive friends beginning 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church. Interment will be private.
