Obituary

John P. Roberts, 76, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the LifeCare Hospital of Mechanicsburg.

Born April 20, 1936 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Francis Tolas and Pauline Rubcich. He was the loving husband of Joann (Dabella) Roberts with whom he shared forty-nine years of marriage.

John was a 1954 graduate of the St. Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, NY.

He served his country proudly as a Specialist E4 with the 14th Armored Calvary in the United States Army from 1959-1965.

John retired in 1985 after twenty-one years of service as a Corrections Officer in New York City, NY.

John was a member of the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association and a member of the American Bowling Congress.

John enjoyed coaching the Police Athletic Softball League for many years while living in New York.

In addition to his wife, Joann, John is survived by a son, Jeff of Jersey City, NJ; and a daughter, Karen Farinelli and her husband Michael of Spring Grove, PA; two grandchildren, Nick and Chris Farinelli. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Roberts.

Funeral services to celebrate and remember John will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, PA with Pastor Michael Osladil officiating. A Viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
