Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Margaret “Peg” (Firor) Moses, 93, of Southlake, Texas, formerly of New Chester, Pennsylvania passed away at her daughter’s home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in Texas.
Born January 3, 1923 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the Harry Nelson and Mary Elizabeth (Lippy) Firor. Peg was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Kathryn (Kas) Firor; and her brothers Harry and Louis Firor.
Mrs. Moses graduated Hanover High School in 1941 and attended Gettysburg College where she met her late husband at a local dance at Fairfield.
Mrs. Moses was married for nearly 60 years to Patrick J. Moses. They attended White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Texas together and Peg continued to attend after his passing in 2009. They were longstanding members of the St. Paul of the Pines Lutheran Church in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Moses was a member in good standing of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She often recalled fondly her early years growing up on the corner of Broadway and Stock Street in Hanover and longed to return home. Peg enjoyed oil painting and was an active bridge player until she died. She enjoyed winning bridge at the Southlake Senior Center in Texas.
She is survived by four loving children, John Moses and wife Elizabeth, of N. Potomac, Md., Robert N. Moses and wife Mary Anne, of Gaithersburg, Md., Elizabeth Wilson and husband Jerry of Ocean Pines, Md., and Susan Lord and husband, Jon, of Southlake, Texas; 12 grandchildren, John Moses, Carolyn Moses-Hollingsworth, Colleen Moses, Kenneth Moses, Jamie Moses, Patrick Moses, Sara Moses and Robert Moses, K.C. Woulfe, Michelle Wilson, Brittany Wilson and Kaitlyn Lord Denham; and eight great-grandchildren, Madeliene, Lily and John Kenneth Moses, Ella and Addie Hollingsworth and Lilian, Madeline and Natalie Woulfe. The family would like to extend special thanks to Mom’s caregivers, Carole and Traci, for all their loving support.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with [Rev. Benson Paul of St. Paul’s The Pines Lutheran Church] officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
