Ralph C. Reichart, 83, of Hanover passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Tuesday, January 13, 2009. He was the husband of 65 years to Lena (Auchey) Reichart, Hanover whom he married October 8, 1943.
Born January 8, 1926 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Chester and Roxie (Bechtel) Reichart.
Mr. Reichart was a member of the First Church of God, Hanover. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the #730 Engineer Depot Co. overseas in the Philippines and New Guinea. Mr. Reichart was employed with Bethlehem Mines for over 33 years as a machinist retiring in 1983. He was very gifted with his hands and came up with many unique solutions to help others with business and home mechanical problems. Mr. Reichart additional memberships include, Life member of the VFW Post #2506 and a Life member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post # 14, New Oxford Social Club, Hanover Elks# 763 and the Republican Club of Hanover.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters and a son; Diane Malloy and her husband Francis, Temple Terrace, FL; Jeanne Hartman and her husband Eugene, Littlestown; Randy Reichart and his wife Debra, Hanover; Cynthia Freeland and her husband Tom, Atglen, PA; one brother and one sister; Franklin Reichart, New Oxford; Mildred Richter, Hanover. Also eight grandchildren, a number of step-grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; Romaine Lentz and Kathleen Berkheimer; three brothers; Earl, Lester and Merlin Reichart.
A service to celebrate the life of Ralph Reichart will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover with Pastor Jerry E. Shoap officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Reichart to the VNA/HOSPICE, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
