Doris E. Gouker, 95, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 16, 2017, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 8, 1922 in Gettysburg, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Gifford (Hummelbaugh) Schultz.

Doris married her husband Edward, Sr. on September 13, 1941. They celebrated over 44 years of marriage before Ed passed away on March 8, 1986.

She was the loving mother of Edward, Jr. and Ronald.

Doris is survived by her son Edward Gouker, Jr. and wife Linda, Hanover; daughter-in-law, Judy Gouker, Hanover; grandchildren, Kathy (Gouker) Miller and Fred Gouker, both of Hanover; sister, Louise Krick and husband Robert, Peoria, IL; brother, J. Fred Schultz and wife Shelby, Gettysburg; niece, Gloria Hartlaub; dear friend, Nadine Wolfe and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward R. Gouker, Sr., son Ronald, brother, Richard Schultz and his wife Joyce.

Doris worked at Smyser’s card shop, Hanover and loved to read Danielle Steele books and do word search puzzles. She also loved to watch bowling and the Senior PGA golfers.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11 AM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday from 10 AM until the start of the service at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
