Mary R. Sanders Lookenbill, 95, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Manor Care in York.
Born on Sunday, March 23, 1919 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late S. Paul and Catherine Mae Bupp Sanders. She was also preceded in death by her husband Roy E. Lookenbill, who died in 2004; a son, Glenn A. Lookenbill; a sister, Helen Hippensteel; and a brother, Lloyd Sanders. She was a 1937 graduate of Eichelberger High School. Mrs. Lookenbill retired in 1985 from McCrory’s in Hanover after 42 years of service, and was a member of Grace United Church of Christ.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Angela Shaffer and her husband, Brian, Andrew Lookenbill and his wife, Stephanie, and Amy Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney Einsig and her husband, Matt, Daniel, Rebecca and Baron Shaffer, Taylor and Isabella Lookenbill, and Dakota and Sara Williams; and one great-great-grandson, Caleb Dulaney.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, with The Rev. Dr. Bruce P. Bouchard officiating.
