Lela “Margie” Marguerite Zartman
August 3, 1926 - February 11, 2017
Lela “Margie” Marguerite (Grimes) Zartman, 90 of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the loving wife of the late Ralph Kenneth Zartman; together they shared 59 years of marriage before Ralph’s passing in 2004.
Born Tuesday, August 3, 1926 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Sirrell Allen and Marguerite Mae (Cashman) Grimes.
Margie was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, class of 1944 and following High School, she was a Personnel Directress for G.C. Murphy Co. for 5 years. Margie was involved in many activities throughout her life, some include, being a treasurer for Trinity Church of the Nazarene, being a Sunday School teacher at Otterbein United Church of the Brethren, an Avon sales representative for 30 years, Girl Scout Troop #703 leader for 6 years, president of the Democratic Club of Hanover, Democratic Committee Woman of the 1st District of the Hanover area, and Christian Business Woman’s Club. Margie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Margie is survived by three children, a daughter, Debra K. Gass and her husband Ray of Hanover, two sons, Michael A. Zartman and his wife Patricia of Hanover, Gregory W. Zartman and his wife Sally of Hanover. Margie was lovingly referred to as “Nan” by her six grandchildren, Craig Zartman, Heather Rohrbaugh, Jeffrey Geiman, Jason Geiman, Jared Gass, and Rachael Zepp, and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Margie, was preceded in death by two siblings, John Allen Grimes and Elizabeth C. Merrell.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Zartman will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Gerald R. Dunlap officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Pallbearers will be; Craig S. Zartman, Jeffrey A. Geiman, Jason L. Geiman, Jared R. Gass, Keith E. Rohrbaugh, and Jason A. Zepp.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Margie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
