Obituary
Gladys S. Berwager, 84, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Brethren Home.
Born May 31, 1928, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Shriver. Gladys was the loving wife of Jacob Edward Berwager with whom she shared 43 years of marriage.
Gladys worked for over thirty years for Keystone Wire Cloth and the Hanover Penn Factory for fifteen years.
Gladys was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren, Hanover, PA as well as local and national AARP. She was a volunteer for several years with the PAL Lunch Program, Meals On Wheels Program and was a thirty year volunteer at the Brethren Home, New Oxford.
Mrs. Berwager also took great pride in being a blood donor from 1985-2007. Gladys was also an avid baker and enjoyed cooking in her free time.
In addition to her husband Jacob, Gladys is survived by her children, Wayne A. Laughman and his wife Christine of Harrisburg, PA, Carol A. Feeser of Ohio, Susan K. Kearney and her husband Randy of Spring Grove, PA and Denise E. Wentz and her husband Jim of Hanover, PA; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Shriver of Hanover, PA; and two sisters, Ruth Hoffer of Virginia and Mary Becker of Hanover, PA, three step-daughters, Norma Jean Dusman and her husband John, Karen Griffie and her husband Clyde, and Tina Redding and her husband Terrance; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Geiman of Hanover.
A service to celebrate and remember Gladys's life will be held at 11 AM, Monday, December 3, 2012 at Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA. with Pastor Geraldine Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family and view will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA and from 10-11 AM, Monday at the church.
Serving as casketbearers will be Jim Wentz, Nathan Wentz, Steve Laughman, Chris Laughman, Alvin Becker and Jamie Feeser.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gladys may be made to Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331, the Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350 or to the VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
