Gary “Gramps” Wagner, 66, of Hanover, died at home, with his family at his side, Friday, January 9, 2009. He was the husband, for 34 years, of Naomi (Sullivan) Wagner.
Born March 23, 1942 in Hanover, he was a son of the late William Earaste and Catherine (Therit) Wagner.
Gary was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church, Hanover. He was a U. S. Marine Corp veteran from 1960-1963 and received the Good Conduct Medal. Gary enjoyed woodworking and cooking. He was so blessed to go on a cruise with his family last April.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Hassinger of York, Dorothy “Doris” Martin of Hanover, Tammy Sue Taylor of Village, OH and Vicki Lee Byers, Hanover; a brother, Rick Pope of Hanover; three sisters, Jackie Muller, Betty Jane Pope, both of Hanover and Marion Smith, Wallpacca, WI; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Pastor Kevin D. Orewiler officiating. A viewing will be 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover with full military honors.
