Evelyn Rebecca Baldauf, age 101, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013. Evelyn was born in Hanover on January 27, 1912, to the late Ira Keller and Myrtle Keller (nAC.e Schmidt) of Hanover. Evelyn was married to the late John Bernard Baldauf until his death in 1978.
Born before the sailing of The Titanic, Evelyn rode in the 1915 Hanover Centennial Celebration Parade when she was three years old. Evelyn attended Hanover Senior High School and then Prowell's Business School in York. Evelyn was a homemaker and was active in community affairs. An avid Democrat, Evelyn worked at the polls and provided transportation to local voters. Evelyn was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hanover BPOE and she was the Auxiliary's Lady of the Year for 1976-1977 and 1977-1978, the inaugural two years of the award. Evelyn was exceptionally talented at arts and crafts and she loved to play bingo. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Hanover and spent the past few years at the Lutheran Home in The Village at Sprenkle Drive in York. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Jean Baldauf Rutledge, her grandson, Dane Keller Rutledge, and her granddaughter-in-law, RenAC.e Rusin Rutledge.
Evelyn will be interred at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover beside the grave of her husband Johnny. There is a graveside service planned for Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 1pm. Kenworthy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
