Richard J. Bair, 85 of Hanover, entered God’s eternal care on Monday, September 23, 2013 at home. He was the loving companion of Arthur B. Veit for 33 years.
Born October 21, 1927 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Jesse William and Alma Arline (Bortner) Bair.
Richard was a kind and loving man who loved being with his family and educating children, he was a teacher for many years and retired as the principal for Manheim and West Manheim elementary schools. Richard enjoyed going to Broadway shows, the opera, classical music, and also tending to his garden.
In addition to Richard’s Companion he is survived by; a niece, Carol Zutell of Seven Valleys, a nephew, Richard Emmert of McSherrystown, great niece, Jessica Zutell-Berger and her husband Brent of Hanover, and great nephew, Andrew Zutell of Seven Valleys.
In addition to Mr. Bair’s parents he was preceded in death by a sister Frances Emmert.
A service to celebrate the life of Richard will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Kathryn A. Schroeder officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday October 1, 2013 from 6 to 9 pm and then again on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, where full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the charity of your choice.
