Adeline Alice (Werner) White, a resident of Hanover, PA, for 40 years, died on Monday, February 7th, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center of natural causes.
Born April 28, 1919, in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Otto W. and Emma P. (Frosch) Werner.
Adeline was a secretary for Travelers Insurance when she met and married Lloyd C. White in 1949 and was happily married to him until his passing on November 20, 1992. Adeline and her family moved to Ohio and then to Pennsylvania, living in Valley Forge, PA, and Greensburg, PA, until they finally settled in Hanover.
Adeline was active in the community, serving as a Gray Lady at the Hanover Hospital, a Secretary of the Y-Wives, and an officer for the local AARP chapter. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and needlework, including embroidery, sewing, and knitting, in her spare time.
Adeline lived on DeGuy Ave. until 2008, when she moved to Homewood at Plum Creek. She is survived by her three children " Alan C. in Beverly Hills, FL, Karen L. in Palo Alto, CA, and Janis M. in Summit, NJ.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Adeline's life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 14th, at Kenworthy Funeral Home, 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Thomas H. Jacobs officiating. Adeline will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA, next to her husband Lloyd. The family will receive friends and share memories from 10:30 " 11 AM, Monday, February 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
