Gary L. Urick, 84, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care, at home, with his loving family by his side on Friday, February, 4, 2022. He was the husband of Carole L. (Nunn) Urick for 33 years prior to her passing on May 15, 2021. Gary was born November 12, 1937 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Ruth A. (Swisher) Urick.
Gary attended and graduated from Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown. He began his work career, as a draftsman, at the Black and Decker Plant in Hampstead, Maryland. He furthered his career to become a plant engineer, retiring in 1999.
One of Gary’s lifelong passions was his music. He began playing the accordion as a child and later transitioned to keyboards. He eventually went on to lead and perform with several local groups, later performing as a solo artist.
Gary enjoyed spending time with his friends, at the local Hanover social clubs. He was a member of the Amvets, the Republican Club, the McSherrystown Home Association, the Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Gary also served as the Exalted Ruler, for the Hanover Elks Lodge, where he was a lifelong member.
Other hobbies Gary enjoyed during his lifetime, were boating, fishing and spending time at the beach.
Gary will be greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of his doctors and medical staff, as well as the VNA hospice team, for their care and compassion during his illness.
