Joan Kocevar Spooner, 82, died at home Tuesday, January 28, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Born February 24, 1931, in Steelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Martin F. Kocevar, M.D. and Harriet O. Kocevar. She was the wife of William H. Spooner, with whom she would have shared 63 years of marriage on February 1, 2014.
Joan graduated from Steelton High School in 1949 and attended Bryn Mawr College.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one sister, Lynn K. Gaines of Pacific Palisades, CA; daughters Ann Spooner and husband David Welsh of Baltimore, MD, and Elizabeth Stonesifer and husband Jerome of Hanover, PA; one granddaughter, Megan Stonesifer; nephew, William Gaines of San Luis Obispo, CA; great nephew, Benjamin Gaines and great niece, Katrin Gaines.
Joan loved history, music, the theater, and art. She was an accomplished pastel artist, gardener and gourmet cook. She belonged to the York Art Association, Hanover Area Arts Guild, and Hanover Historical Society. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on February 3 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 890 McCosh St., Hanover, PA.
