Florence P. Sullivan

October 15, 1912 - March 21, 2006

Florence P. Sullivan, 93, formerly of Hanover, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community. She was the wife of Denton C. Sullivan, who died October 19, 2002.

Born October 15, 1912, in Carroll County, Md., Florence was the daughter of William J. and Virginia (Mumford) Garver.

Florence was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, where she was active with the youth group in her earlier years, and was a life member of the Hanover Y.W.C.A, where she served on the Board of Directors, was a member of their garden club, and involved with their youth. She was an honorary life member of Soroptimist International of Hanover and was active with the American Association of Retired Persons Chapter #1842. A graduate of Hanover High School, Class of 1931, and Shippensburg State Teachers College, now Shippensburg University, Florence taught in the Southwestern School District until retiring in 1975. She was a member of Hanover General Hospital Auxiliary and Hanover Area Retired Teachers.

In addition to her husband, Florence was preceded in death by her son, Andrew D. Sullivan, who died August 1, 2003. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, with Pastor Daniel Yeiser officiating. There will be no public viewing.
