Dorothy B. Spangler

Dorothy B. Spangler, 94, formerly of 4 Newberry Street, Hanover passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the wife of the late Walter W. Spangler who died January 13, 1988.
She was born June 14, 1920 in Hanover, the daughter of the late Horace C. and Mary E. (Lucabaugh) Mummert.
Mrs. Spangler was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover and the Homewood at Plum Creek Auxiliary. She and her husband Walter loved to travel and visited over 40 states. They especially liked to stay in cabins while visiting state parks in Pennsylvania and New England. She was a master seamstress who was very detail oriented. Mrs. Spangler made clothing, draperies and enjoyed ceramics.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Spangler-Solomon, Hanover; granddaughter, Joelle L. Solomon, Doylestown; sister, Mildred Miller, Hanover; nieces, Donna Groft Rudisill and Kay Groft Logue; nephew, James A. Wertz; seven great nieces; seven great great nieces; one great nephew and four great great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Groft.
There will be a gathering and a time to share memories at 2 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2014 in the church parlor of Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth Street, Hanover. Private burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be James Ickes, James Wertz, Earl Riechart and Jerry Miller.
