Obituary
John F. Wise, 71, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg.
Born on Thursday, February 14, 1946 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Levere R. “Lefty” Wise and Evelyn M. Ports Wise. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lee R. “Bupp” Wise.
A 1964 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he served with the US Navy aboard the USS Turner Joy and saw action during the Vietnam War. John was employed by Hanover Shoe Company and Clarks Shoes for 23 years, where he was the Regional Manager and Supervisor for the entire East Coast, retiring in 1992. He was later a partner with Prudential People’s Choice Realty for 15 years. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, enjoyed watching television, enjoyed playing golf, and was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include a nephew, Richard Wise; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Wise, both of Hanover.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11 am September 9, 2017 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
