Lee R. Wise, 75, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born on Saturday, July 27, 1940 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Levere R. “Lefty” Wise and Evelyn M. Ports Wise. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Eckenrode Wise with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Lee was a 1959 honor graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School and began his military career in 1961. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service. While stationed in Europe, he was a wrestling coach for the American School in England. His team won first place, in Europe, for three consecutive years. His last assignment was at Andrews Air Force Base where he was the Chief of Maintenance for the Presidential Unit. While under this assignment, he maintained Air Force One and 53 other aircraft for Presidents Carter and Reagan.
Lee later became a realtor and was co-owner of Prudential Realty for 14 years, retiring in 2015. He was a member and past president of the Exchange Club of Hanover and was also a member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2506. He volunteered at the Friends of Codorus Gift Shop and was block captain for his neighborhood.
In addition to his loving wife, Elizabeth, Lee is survived by a son, Richard Lee “Rick” Wise of Hanover; and a brother, John Wise of Gettysburg.
