Obituary
James O. Wolf, 78, of Littlestown, beloved husband of Marian Stermer Wolf, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 5, 2016.
Born on Friday, September 17, 1937 in Westminster, MD, he was a son of the late Henry and Pauline Meyers Wolf. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Glenn and Thomas Wolf and a sister, June. A 1957 graduate of Taneytown High School, he was in the bakery business since 1961. He, along with his wife, owned and operated the Hillcrest Restaurant before retiring in 2013. A father figure to many of his employees, he enjoyed meeting and connecting with the visitors that came into the restaurant. He was a 50 year member of Patmos Lodge No. 348 F. & A.M. and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Littlestown. A lover of all animals, he and Marian were instrumental in the development of Pet Haven in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, he is survived by his 12 week old puppy, Charger, with whom he shared a special bond; five children from a previous marriage and their families; two sisters, Joanne Dougherty and her husband, Harry of Taneytown, MD and Joyce Lauver of Gettysburg and several nieces and nephews.
A Masonic Service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and the funeral will follow with The Rev. John Largen officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery. With Jim’s vibrant personality, friends are asked to wear bright colors to the service.
