Obituary

Robert Lewis Sheets, 82, loving husband, father, and grandfather, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal care, Monday, April 2, 2017 at UPMC Pinnacle - Hanover.

Born March 18, 1936, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Lewis W. and Grace J. (Morrison) Sheets.  He was the loving husband of Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Hoff) Sheets with whom he shared forty-six years of marriage.

Bob was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.  He was a member the Hanover Arcadian Club, and life member of the Hanover Elk’s. He was a free and accepted mason for over 50 years and a member of Shriners International, Penn Council #67, Patmos Lodge #348, and the Hanover Royal Arc Chapter 310. 

Mr. Sheets was a 1954 graduate of Eichelberger High School.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Bob was the former owner/operator of Sheets Truck Center with locations in Hanover, York and Chambersburg for over 50 years until he retired in 1999.  He owned and operated Liberty Nissan in Hanover, PA until he sold the business in 1996.

Bob loved fishing, playing cards with his friends and spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Betty, Bob is survived by his children, Andrew R. Sheets of Mechanicsburg, PA and Deborah L. Sheets-Blasone  and husband Michael of East Berlin, PA; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Blasone, Noah Blasone, Jacob Blasone, Olivia Blasone, Alisha M. Sheets, William A. Sheets and Madison B. Sheets.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis E. Overly.

Funeral Services to celebrate and remember Bob will be at 11:00AM, Friday, April 6, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 127 York Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with Military Honor by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with a Masonic Service at 8 PM, and from 10:00-11:00AM, Friday, April 6, 2018 at the church.
