Addison L. “Buster” Swindler, Jr., 88, of Hanover, passed peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle, Hanover. He was the loving husband, for 61 years, of Joan (Brown) Swindler who passed away December 18, 2016.
Born November 18, 1929 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Addison Lee, Sr. and Emma Achsoh (Estes) Swindler.
Buster served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1975. While in the Air Force, he earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, Hanover and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2506, Hanover. Mr. Swindler was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Patmos Lodge #348, and member and Past Worshipful Master of Hebron Lodge #465, Harrisburg Consistory A.A.S.R. and the Zembo Shriners. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #763, Hanover and the Sperryville Methodist Church, Sperryville, VA.
Buster is survived by his children; Michael Lee Swindler and his wife Cayle of Boiling Springs, PA and Barbara Dawn Swindler of Hanover; three grandsons, Colton Michael Swindler, Trenton Lee Swindler and Braedon Robert Swindler all of Boiling Springs and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was especially close to his granddog Darcie and tolerated her sister Bingley. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Estes Swindler and James Edward Swindler, Sr.
