Shirley M. Mahaley, 86, of Hanover, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Columbia Cottage, Hanover. She was the loving wife of Ralph E. Mahaley, Hanover. Together they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on August 10th, 2017.
Born January 2, 1931 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Vernie E. and Gladys (Unger) Leppo.
Shirley was a graduate of Eichelberger High School, class of 1948. She was employed as a secretary at Anaconda Wire, York for 11 years and as a data coordinator at BMY (United Defense Contractor) now BAE for 15 years retiring in 1993. Shirley was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, York. She was an avid Penn State and Steelers fan and loved tailgating and attending Penn State games. She also enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is also survived by her loving daughter, Vickie M. Geiger and her husband Joseph of Hanover; she was so proud of her grandson Jason Geiger and his wife Lauren of Boulder, CO and her granddaughter, Laura Geiger and her husband Zeke Farwell of Colchester, VT; other survivors include her brother, Clyde Leppo and his wife Judy of Hanover; her sisters, Joy and Gay Leppo of Hanover and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with final committal taking place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
