Obituary
Clair Livelsberger, 88, of the Brethren Home Community and formerly of Hanover, passed peacefully Sunday, Aug. 9th, 2009 at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Jeanne (Keller) Livelsberger who died Dec. 9, 1981 and the husband of Anna Forbes (Reese) Livelsberger who died Oct. 27th, 2008.
Born Feb. 25, 1921 in Biglerville, Clair was a son of the late Harry W. and Sadie (Klunk) Livelsberger.
Clair was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving during WWII and was a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, Hanover. Clair retired in 1985 after many years as a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, Hanover Branch. He loved sports and was an avid Baltimore Oriole fan and Penn State football fan taking away game trips with Bill Bittinger’s Bus Tours to the Rose Bowl and Notre Dame to name a few. Clair was also active in the York Co. Democratic Club and a member of the B.P.O. Elks #763, Hanover. He especially enjoyed getting together for family dinners.
His survivors include five children; Stephen Livelsberger and his wife Barbara, Hanover, David Livelsberger and his wife Kathy, Rochester Hills, Michigan, Christine Laughman and her husband Wayne, Harrisburg, JoAnne Hilbert and her husband Leo, Hanover, Jane Losensky and her husband John, Lake Orion, Michigan; a step daughter Sherry Reese Vaught and her husband Terry, Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters Thelma Nusslock and Jean Shearer both of York; nine grandchildren Jamie Starling, Joshua Starling, Allison Cassel, Laura Hilbert, Matthew Deibert, Nathan Hilbert, Michael Losensky, Jenna Losensky and Reese Vaught; and two great grandchildren Eve and Kayla Starling. He was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.
A service to celebrate the life of Clair will be held at 11:00am Wed., Aug.12 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. The family will receive friends Wed. from 9:30am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where full Military Honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Matthew Deibert, Nathan Hilbert, John Losensky, Stephen Livelsberger, David Livelsberger, Leo Hilbert, Wayne Laughman and Michael Losensky.
