Harriet Jeanne (Trone) Munday, 95, of New Oxford, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Cross Keys Village The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford, PA.
Born June 6, 1919 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mark E. and Ethel (Glenn) Trone. Jeanne was the loving wife of the late Giles R. "Rod" Munday.
Jeanne was a graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover. She continued her studies at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree.
Mrs. Munday was employed as a medical lab technician and enjoyed assisting her husband who was a golf professional. Prior to this she helped run the jewelry store that was owned by her parents.
Jeanne was a life-long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Hanover. Jeanne was also a member of the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, the Hanover Historical Society, and the Hanover Country Club. She was also a volunteer at the former Hillview House and Golden Visions.
Mrs. Munday was an accomplished watercolor artist and competed in state art competitions for the Office of Aging. Over the years, Jeanne won several awards for her various paintings. She was also a first class amateur golfer and competed many times at both the state and York County amateur level. It is important to note that Jeanne was the Hanover Country Club Champion numerous times during her career.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Sally M. Becker and her husband James H. and Mary Mark Munday all of New Oxford, PA, two grandchildren, Laura Duncan and her husband Malik of Dillsburg, PA, Matthew Becker and his wife Hope of Martinsburg, WV, one great-grandson, Cloud Duncan, and her niece Linnea J. Carlson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary G. Carlson.
Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Jeanne's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the church.
