Ruth F. (Aulthouse) Blouse, 89, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Homewood of Plum Creek. She was the loving wife of Richard E. Blouse for more than 57 years until his death on Nov. 13, 2000.
Born December 7, 1924 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Harry Roth and Florence Savanah (Flickinger) Aulthouse.
Mrs. Blouse graduated from Eichelberger High School. In her earlier years, she worked as a bank teller for First Federal Savings and Loan Bank. Mrs. Blouse was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary for 18 years. Volunteering was key to her life. For many years she worked at the election polls in Penn Township for both the primary and general elections. Mrs. Blouse was a member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763 Ladies Auxiliary and an active member with leadership roles in the Penn Township Lioness Club. Later in life, Mrs. Blouse was a resident at Homewood and worked part time at Smokehouse Crafts, Littlestown. At Homewood she was very active with the Vision Loss Support Group. She served in a financial role with the Stores at Homewood. She especially enjoyed her financial role with the Homewood Employee Appreciation committee for many years.
Mrs. Blouse is survived by her loving son Richard E. Blouse, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Southport, NC, two grandchildren; Grant E. Blouse and his wife, Shantel of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Tyler E. Blouse and his wife, Holly of Greenville, SC; five great grandchildren; and her brother, Harry David Aulthouse, Columbia, PA.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Blouse was preceded in death by her two half-sisters; Anna Greenholt and Marion Wege; and her half-brother John Kenneth Aulthouse.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Blouse’s life will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 3rd in the chapel at Homewood at Plum Creek with Rev. Joel Hummel and Rev. Gregory Rapp officiating. A private burial will be held in the afternoon at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mrs. Blouse's memory payable to Employee Appreciation Fund, and mailed to Employee Appreciation, Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Ave, Hanover, PA 17331.
