Obituary
Joseph E. “Pap” Loss, 91, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Brethren Home Community. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Leese) Loss; together they shared 70 years of marriage.
Born June 9, 1926 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Geraldine L. (Lookenbill) Loss.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he cherished his family and the time spent with them. After serving his country in the United States Army during WWII he went on to work at American Chain in York, Bendix, and retired from SKF in 1992 as a machinist. Joe was a member of the VFW, Hanover Home Association, AMVETS, American Legion post 14, New Oxford Social Club, and McSherrystown Home Association. Joe enjoyed playing golf, watching Penn State and the Baltimore Orioles but most of all he loved going to his great grandkids sports games.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughter, Vickie (Loss) Little and her husband David of Abbottstown; two grandchildren, Stacey Krysiak and her husband Randy of Glenville, Dan Gruver of Hanover; three great grandchildren, Kole Krysiak of Glenville, Brooke Krysiak of Glenville, Alexandra Gruver of Hanover; two step great grandchildren, Robbie Hovey of Silver Spring, MD, Taylor Dale of Cleveland, TN; one step great great granddaughter Collins Dale and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his step mother, Beatrice Loss.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joe will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Reverend Stephen Salisbury officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Hanover with military honors conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
