Obituary
Sally Warehime Yelland Ehrhart, 85, of Hanover passed away peacefully at Homewood at Plum Creek on Thursday, February 24, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Sidney S. Ehrhart and the widow of Bruce R. Yelland, who passed away in 2008.
Born August 7, 1936 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Alan R. and Rosedrey L. (Rohrbaugh) Warehime.
In addition to her husband, Sally is survived by 2 children: Steven B. Yelland and his wife Amy, of Finksburg, MD and Ann Y. Adornetto and her husband, Michael of Medford, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Bode and Erin Yelland, as well as Julia, Kayla and Dominique Adornetto. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Ms. Janice Doan and Mrs. Tricia Warehime.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael A. Warehime and John A. Warehime.
Sally was a graduate of the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, attended the University of Wisconsin and was a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School in New York.
She met her future husband, Bruce while working in New York for American Can Company. She returned to Hanover, PA with Bruce, and together they became the 4th generation family owners of the J.F. Rohrbaugh Co., where they began to manufacture wooden pallets and skids in 1960. Sally enjoyed working with her husband, however, her happiest days were working at Tradition House, Inc., a mahogany furniture manufacturing company they purchased together.
Although busy with her children, Sally found the time to help the community. She was a Red Cross Hospital Gray Lady. She also served as treasurer and auxiliary board of director’s member for Hanover Hospital, as well as a board of director’s member at Clearview Terrace. Other board positions on which she served included Farmer’s Bank & Trust Co., Hanover Brands and Snyder’s Lance.
Sally met her current husband, Sid, through mutual friends at the Hanover Country Club. They immediately enjoyed their time together, married in 2012 and recently celebrated their ninth anniversary.
Sally believed in giving back to the community and gifted to many non-profit organizations including the Bruce Yelland Study Room at Drexel University, The Yelland Research Library at the Hanover Area Historical Society, the Hanover Area YMCA, Hanover YWCA and the Guthrie Memorial Library, as well as numerous other charities.
A memorial service to celebrate Sally’s life will be held at 11 am on Monday Feb. 28th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church; 30 W. Chestnut St.; Hanover, PA 17331 with Pastor Kathy Vitalis Hoffman officiating. Visitation with the family will occur at the church from 10:00 am until the start of the service.
