Milton H. “Junie” Sullivan, Jr., 81, formerly of Hanover, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of Freda V. (Staub) Sullivan, who died Jan. 14th, 1996.
Born July 4th, 1925, he was a son of the late Milton H., Sr. and Margaret (Warner) Sullivan.
Junie was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and was a two time recipient of the Purple Heart. He also received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2506, Hanover. Milton worked as a supervisor for Malcolm Spinning Mills, Hanover, retiring in the early 1980’s. He was a former member of the Hanover Eagles. Mr. Sullivan enjoyed hunting in Caledonia State Park and fishing in Codorus State Park and also liked gardening and growing flowers.
His survivors include four children, Randy Sullivan and his wife Ruth, of Hanover, Cindy Sterner and her husband Steve, of Hanover, Gary Sullivan and his wife Vickie, of Hanover, and Danny Sullivan and his wife Carol, of Thomasville; five sisters, Kathlene Tracey, Thelma Laughman, Anna Boyer, Deanie Sabaka, and Shirley Fritz, all of Hanover; three brothers, Robert Sullivan, of Colorado, Donald Sullivan, of Hanover, and Larry Sullivan, of Spring Grove; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Ken, Gene, Gilbert and Richard Sullivan; and two sisters, Larue Daby and Dorothy Walton.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday from the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with Pastor Timothy Seitz Brown officiating. The viewings will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, where full Military Honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Council.
