Alton Burnell Myers
December 6, 1926 - August 4, 2013
Alton B. Myers, 86, of Hanover, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Hanover Hall. He was the loving husband of Annie C. (Garman) Myers who passed away on April 23, 1986.
Born December 6, 1926 in Hanover, Alton was the son of the late Irvin M. and Elsie M. (Trone) Myers.
Mr. Myers was a member of St. David’s U.C.C., Hanover. He served his country proudly as a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. Alton was employed for many years with H.J. Williams and Kinsley Construction inYork before retiring in 1993. An avid hunter, Alton was a past member of the York and Adams Fish and Game Association.
Mr. Myers is survived by a son, David A. Myers and his wife Luann, Hanover; two grandchildren, Matthew Myers and his wife Stephanie, Thomasville and Sarah Myers, Hanover; three precious great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Aidan and Aubrey Myers; and his sister-in-law, Joan Myers, Rockville, MD and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Adrian Myers.
A service to celebrate the life of Alton Myers will be held at 11:00am Friday at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm and again on Friday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover where full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
