Carl Henson, of Hanover, went to his Heavenly home on March 6, 2015.
Born in Hanover, PA on September 1, 1927, Carl was the son of the late W. Claud Henson and Marie (Angell) Henson. He was also predeceased by his loving wife, Kathryn, to whom he was married for 63 years. Together, they raised four children: Judith, married to Charles Wallace of East Berlin; Gary, married to Pamela (Michael), of Hanover; Gail, married to Michael Greenholt, of Hanover; and Robin, married to Craig Partridge, of Shiremanstown. Carl was Pop-pop to grandchildren Wendy (Wallace) and husband William McDowell, East Berlin; Julie Greenholt, New Jersey; Michael Greenholt and wife Jessica, California; Matthew Greenholt, New York; Andrew Henson and wife Amy, North Carolina; Joshua Henson and wife Jennifer, Georgia; Joseph Henson, Hanover; and Sarah Partridge, Shiremanstown; great-grandchildren: Madison, Carley, Macey and Charleigh McDowell; Caleb and Ethan Henson; Malachi, Michaela and McKenna Henson; and Gracie Greenholt. He is also survived by many members of the Nace family who were very dear to him.
Carl was a 1945 graduate of Hanover High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was assigned to the USS Edisto while on expedition to the North Pole and crossed the Arctic Circle on July 27, 1947. In 1960, he and his father established Henson Paving Company which developed into a successful business and operated for 55 years. Carl was also a founding member of Littlestown Chapel Outreach for Christ where he taught Sunday School for many years and was an Elder. He previously served on the New Oxford School District Authority Board; the Brethren Home Community Advisory Board; was active for many years with Christian Business Men's Committee and was a member of the Hanover Mall Walkers.
