William J. “Bill” Marquet, Sr., 72, of Hanover, passed peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Hanover Hall. He was the husband of Judy E. (Elicker) Marquet for 45 years.
Born May 4, 1940, he was a son of the late Harry R. and Fannie I. (Rickrode) Marquet.
Bill was employed for a number of years with Revonah Spinning Mills in Hanover prior to its closing. He later worked at WHVR and was a self- employed handyman. He was a member of Hanover Fire Co. #1, McSherrystown Home Assn., and both the Hanover and East Berlin Historical Societies. Bill especially enjoyed going to Auctions and loved buying, selling and collecting antiques.
In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by a son William J. Marquet, Jr. and his wife Susan, Spring Grove, two brothers; Sam Marquet and his wife Donna, Hanover and Charlie Marquet and his wife Carol, York Springs and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Bill Marquet will be held at 7:00pm Monday at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Rev. Scott Sager officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be after 5pm until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover at a later date.
