Robert Daniel “Pap” Diehl, 90, of Spring Grove passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Memorial Hospital, York. He was the husband of the late Catherine E. “Kay” (Beck) Diehl who died on March 2, 1998.
Born December 6, 1918 in Menges Mills he was the son of the late John Clair and Ester (Sanders) Diehl.
Mr. Diehl was a former member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, Hanover. His hobbies included writing poems and photography. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving is two brothers and a sister: Donald Diehl, Jefferson; Ken Diehl, Hanover; Dorothy Gross, York; three grandchildren; Vanessa Armagost, Spring Grove; Paul Becker, Jr., Littlestown; Tammy Stonesifer, Altoona; Great Granddaughter; Krishna Payne, Red Lion; also two great grandsons and one great great grandson.
A service to celebrate the life of Robert will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 2, 2009 at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street with his cousin Rev. Daniel L. Shearer officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA 17331 to help defray the cost of the funeral.
