Carroll F. Boyer, 87, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Sherwood Street, Hanover, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg. He was the loving husband of 60 years of R. Nadine (Leister) Boyer.
Born September 8, 1920, in Hanover, he was the son of the late William F. and Carrie (Hoffacker) Boyer.
Carroll was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, York St., Hanover. A 1938 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he was employed as a television technician at E.J.J. Gobrecht’s, Hanover, and later Riddle’s Appliance Company, Hanover, retiring December 31, 1987.
Carroll was a veteran of the Army Air Force having served in World War II as a radar technician with the 8th Air Force in England and Europe. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2506, Hanover.
Mr. Boyer was also a member of the National AARP. He served as Past President of the Hanover Exchange Club and was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America, ending his 20 years of service as District Commissioner of York-Adams District.
In his free time, Carroll enjoyed bowling in Men’s, Mixed, and Senior Leagues, and he loved salmon fishing on Lake Ontario out of Point Breeze, NY.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Allen F. Boyer and his wife Kathryn, of Cary, NC, and Mark C. Boyer and his wife Paula, of Mechanicsburg, PA; one daughter, Ann L. Boyer, of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren, James A. Boyer and Allyssa A. Boyer, both of Mechanicsburg, and Steven F. Boyer and Matthew F. Boyer, both of Cary, NC.
