Born on Saturday, December 30, 1944 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Leroy G. and Arlene F. Shepard Gochenauer. He was also preceded in death by his son, Richard Gochenauer, Jr.; his four brothers, Robert G., George G., Aldaus O., and Maynard O. Gochenauer; and his two sisters, Boneta W. Fair, and Audrey N. Showers. Richard retired from Colonial Fiberglass Industries in McSherrystown. He was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association and the McSherrystown Moose Lodge #720. Richard enjoyed bowling, hunting, gardening, and going to auctions.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 18 years, is his daughter, Lisa Shultz; two grandchildren; and give sisters, Byrl E. Gates, Arlissa M. Black, D. Mardell Anderson and her husband, E.C., Gloria A. Patterson, and June M. Ayers.
A viewing will be held from 10 am- 12 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. Burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
