Ralph Albert Myers, 93, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born March 1, 1922, in Littlestown, PA, he was the son of the late Herbert S. and Relda (Stonesifer) Myers. Ralph was the loving husband of Leurenna M. (Shank) Myers with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Ralph was a 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during World War II. He served in England, France, Belgium and Germany in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was awarded the EAME Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, American Theater Medal, WW II Victory Medal as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was cornet/trumpet player with the 99th Infantry Division Band and the Second Division Band.
Ralph was employed at Hanover Shoe and C. J. Clarks for 41 years until his retirement in 1987. He worked part time for Menchey Music Service for 15 years as well.
Ralph was a member of St. Bartholomew's United Church, ELCA, where he was a former Council Member, the Sunday School Orchestra for 70 years, and the Building and Improvement Committee. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent and was the Bulletin Coordinator for 20 years.
Ralph was a 50 year plus member of the Harold H. Bair, Post #14 American Legion, a 50 plus year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #227, 53 year plus member of the K of P, and Moose Band where he served as manager and trumpet player, and was also a former member and past president of the Hanover Mall Walkers.
Ralph enjoyed music, traveling, reading, and watching football and baseball games.
In addition to his loving wife, Leurenna, Ralph is survived by one daughter, Diane M. Myers of Hanover, PA.
A service to celebrate and remember Ralph's life will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Steven E. Thomas officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10 " 11 AM, Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors.
