Joseph A. Clabaugh, II, 66 of Hanover, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Bethesda, MD. He was the loving husband of Joyce (Skaggs) Clabaugh for 45 years.
Born February 20, 1944 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Marie (Small) Clabaugh.
Joseph was employed as a Police Officer for Hanover Boro for 33 years retiring in 1999. He was a patrol officer for 10 years and Sergeant for 23 years. He was employed by Wolf’s Bus Lines of York Springs for 25 years. Mr. Clabaugh was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1962 – 1966 during Vietnam. His memberships include the Fraternal Order of Police # 69, Republican Club of Hanover, the National Rifle Association, American Legion Post #202, Gettysburg, Gold Wings Road Riders Association Patriot Guard Riders, the Blue Knights V, The York 912 Patriots and the Sons of Liberty Riders.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Joseph A. Clabaugh, III and wife Diane, Sarasota, Fl; Curtis L. Clabaugh, Hanover; a sister: Doris McDannell and her husband Jay, Ortanna, PA; and one grandson: Zach Clabaugh, York College.
A service to celebrate the life of Joseph A. Clabaugh, II will be Monday, October 4, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
