Obituary
Harold L. Welty, 87, of Hanover, passed peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Hanover Hall. He was the loving husband of Frances Joan (Mummert) Welty who died September 28, 2010.
He was born February 18, 1928 in New Oxford, the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Wolf) Welty.
Mr. Welty served in the Army during WW II and retired as a foreman after 46 years with Asplundh Tree Company. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church and served as an umpire for 40 years for the Hanover Area Softball Umpires Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Krug and husband Kenneth, Spring Grove; son, Scott Allen Welty, Hanover; brother, Richard Welty, McSherrystown; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Almena “Babe” Henry and Evelyn Kuhn and brothers, William, Ken, Merle and Dean Welty.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 2 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover with his nephew Rev. William Mummert officiating.
