Obituary

Isabel I. Thayer, 88, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center, with her loving family by her side.

Born May 23, 1922 in Aberdeen Scotland, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Cumming) Smith. Isabel was the loving wife of the late Euclid C. "ED" Thayer who died May 2006.

Isabel was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, where she was a former Sunday School Class Teacher. She was a member of the YWCA Garden Club, and a former volunteer at the Hanover Hospital, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop.

Isabel enjoyed floral arranging, making any type of crafts, playing bridge, Bingo, loved reading and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.

Isabel is survived by four children, Susan C. LeDrew of Lancaster, PA, Gregory M. Thayer of Dillsburg, PA, Gail T. Mattingly of Hanover, PA, and Kim I. Thayer of York, PA, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 brother and 4 sisters.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Isabel's life will be held 12 PM, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with the Rev. Earl Marks officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA. The family will receive friends and share memories from 11 AM to 12 Pm, Thursday, February 3, 2011 at the funeral home.

Serving as casketbearers will be Owen Thayer, Greg Thayer, Ron Mattingly, Cory Decker, Rob LeDrew, and Ugur Ozkardesler
