Leeward Donald Tryson, age 79, of Clarksburg, MD died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, July 18, 2022. Mr. Tryson was born in Connecticut but spent most of his formative years in Miami, Florida. During the 60’s he served as an Electrician’s Mate in the US Navy aboard the USS Woodrow Wilson, one of the “41 for Freedom” nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines. After his naval career he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Industry Management from the University of Baltimore. Mr. Tryson went on to work in a supervisory capacity for the City of Baltimore and Johnson Services, among others. In his later years he worked as a well-liked substitute teacher in Littlestown, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years Betty Tryson; daughter Karyne Hogan, stepdaughters Jennifer Schwartz and Jeannette Pessaro, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral service and burial will occur at 11am on Thursday, July 28th at Mt. Olivet Cemetery 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, Pennsylvania 17331.
