Edith V. Smith, 90, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center, Hanover, PA.
Born March 13, 1924, in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Willis F. and Pauline V. (Fink) Sterner. Edith was the loving wife of the late Dennis G. Smith who died September 12, 2004.
Edith was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. She retired from Keystone Senneca Wire Cloth after 22 years of dedicated service, where she was a loom operator.
Edith loved cooking, reading, and traveled extensively. She always had a smile for everyone. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Edith is survived by three daughters, Teresa M. Small and her husband Louis, of Littlestown, PA, Caroline D. Grimm of Hanover, PA, Joanne M. Smith of Bonneauville, PA, six grandchildren; Louis J. Small III, Anna N. Small, Christopher D. Small, Charles M. Grimm, Barbara J. Martin, Patricia A. Phillips, seven great grandchildren; Madison, Noah, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Erica, Jennifer, one great great grandson; Stephen, and one brother; Harold E. Sterner of Elkridge, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA with Father Stephen Kelley and Father Joseph F. Gotwalt as co-celebrants. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with a prayer service at 8 PM as well as from 10 " 11 AM, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Edith may be made to WellSpan Dialysis of Littlestown, 43 Columbus Avenue, Littlestown, PA 17340.
