Services: A graveside service will be held at 10 am Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Mount Olivet Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating.
Visitation: There will be no public visitation.
William C. Smith, 87, of Denver, PA, passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Denver Nursing Home following a period of declining health. Born July 3, 1921 in Toledo, Ohio, he had lived in Williamsport, PA before moving to Hanover in 1945 and was predeceased by his wife of almost 54 years, Virginia Agnor Smith in 1997.Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. A graduate of Williamsport High School, he continued his education at Penn State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in business. He was employed by the PA Department of Revenue and retired in 1981. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover and the John F. Laedlein Masonic Lodge #707 in Williamsport. Survivors include his sons, William C. Smith, IV of Cochise, AZ and Steven R. Smith and his wife Judy of Denver, PA; a granddaughter, Jennifer Brady and her husband, Stephen of Enola, PA.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurses Association, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
