Obituary
Carolyn Lee Winemiller, 79, entered God’s eternal care Monday, March 6, 2023, at home.
Carolyn was born on April 7, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late William G. & Evelyn A. (Klein) Seymour. She was the loving wife to Robert E. Winemiller, Sr. until his death December 2, 2020.
Carolyn graduated class of 1961 from Patterson Park High School in Baltimore, MD. At the age of 55, she started a new career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She received her training from Hanover Practical Nursing Program, graduating in 1998. She was dedicated to her studies and was the valedictorian of her class. Carolyn worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in various settings, ending at Spirit Trust Lutheran where she was employed until her retirement.
Carolyn had numerous passions and interests throughout her life. In the 1970’s, she was the president of the Open Door Society. This was a group dedicated to finding homes for “difficult to place” children, such as sibling groups and children with special needs. Carolyn loved gardening. She had an herb garden and a rose garden, as well as working in the vegetable garden with her husband. Carolyn was an excellent cook and baker, able to follow a recipe as well as able to cook “on the fly” using ingredients that she had in her kitchen and pantry. She took many candid photos of her family through the years. Carolyn was a sewist, making clothing for herself and her family, as well as amazing Halloween costumes, and costumes for school plays. The crafts that Carolyn enjoyed are too numerous to mention. She instilled in her children the joy of creating with their hands from an early age. She always had a book at hand, boredom was not a word in her vocabulary. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Carolyn is survived by her children; Lee W. Cockrum and husband Chris, of Odenton, MD, Robert E. Winemiller, Jr. and wife Kris, of Thomasville, PA, Wendy S. Wildish and husband Joshua, of Hanover, PA, and Lisa M. Twigg and husband Jon, of Wardensville, WV. She also leaves behind her granddaughters; Corri Rhodes, Sara Winemiller, Haley Twigg, Bella Twigg, and Ava Twigg. She was preceded in death by one sister, Janice (Seymour) Denson.
A service to remember and celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with Reverend Scott Sager officiating.
