Obituary
Robert E. Winemiller, 75, entered God’s eternal care, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Robert was born on October 28, 1945, in White Hall, Maryland, the son of the late Howard Ross and Evelyn Pearl (Gibson) Winemiller. He was the loving husband of Carolyn L. (Seymour) Winemiller, with whom he celebrated 41 years of marriage, on November 23, 2020.
Robert graduated from North Harford High School in MD in 1963. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted and served his country proudly in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded badges for Marksmanship and Expert Marksmanship, as well as the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Robert was very proud of the position he served in the Intelligence Division, specifically in the area of cryptology.
Robert was employed as a Buyer for Philips Hadco Lighting (previously Hadco), until his retirement in 2013. Following retirement, he participated in many activities; he always stated that he was busier in retirement than he ever was before he retired. Just a few of his activities were traveling with his wife Carolyn, loving and spoiling his grandchildren and working on his lovingly maintained yard and garden. He volunteered at Hanover Hospital for many years. This was a service he performed proudly and with great compassion. He was also an active member of the York-Adams 2-cylinder Club. He consistently participated in various fundraising events and attended shows with his much-loved antique John Deere tractor as often as possible.
In addition to his wife Carolyn, Robert is survived by his children; Lee Cockrum and husband Chris, of Odenton, MD, Robert E. Winemiller Jr. and wife Kris, of Thomasville, PA, Wendy Wildish and husband Joshua, of Hanover, PA, and Lisa Twigg and husband Jon, of Wardensville, WV. He also leaves behind his granddaughters; Corri Rhodes, Sara Winemiller, Haley Twigg, Annabella Twigg, and Ava Twigg; one sister, Doris Frey, and his brothers; Howard Winemiller, Roger Winemiller, Randy Winemiller.
A service to remember and celebrate Robert’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA with Pastor Scott Sager officiating.
