Edward J. Strausbaugh, Jr., 70, of Hanover passed peacefully on February 9, 2017 at Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of his devoted wife, Barbara (Strausbaugh) Strausbaugh for 48 years.
Born April 3, 1946 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Edward J., Sr. and Bertha (Riebling) Strausbaugh.
Ed was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. He was a graduate of Littlestown High School class of 1964. Ed served his country proudly for more than four years in the United States Marine Corps including 13 months in Vietnam. He then worked for 22 years for the former RTI Technologies, York as an inside sales manager. Mr. Strausbaugh and his wife Barb loved playing cards with family and friends, going to Thomasville afternoon auctions, summer concerts, movies and going to dinner with family and friends. They also went to many sporting events of their great great nephew and nieces, picnics with family to Caledonia and fun bus trips with friends. Ed also enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife Barb, Ed is survived by two sisters, Joyce Kopp of York and Sandra Fellers of Hanover; two brothers in law, John Fellers and Melvin “Sonny” Strausbaugh; his Aunt Genevieve Strausbaugh; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and two great great nieces and one great great nephew. Ed loved them all deeply. They were his “world” and all of them loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his sister Judith Hopkins.
A service to celebrate the life of Edward Strausbaugh will be held at 7:00pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, PA with The Rev. Kathryn A. Schroeder officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be Monday from 5 to 7:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover.
