Obituary
Michael R. Black, 77 of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Laura Regina (Rill) Black for 36 years.
Born May 7, 1940 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Della F. (Kirwan) Black.
Michael served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy and was a life member of the Littlestown VFW Post 6954 and a member of the Navy Veterans’ Club. He was an electronic technician for Gould, Inc. and Westinghouse for a number of years. He also worked for Utz Quality Foods, Weis Markets and Shultz Foods. Mike was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hanover and a dedicated member of the United Methodist Men’s group. Mike was an avid Penn State, Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. He enjoyed classic cars and was an accomplished artist and had quite a collection of personal oil paintings.
In addition to his wife Laura, Mike is survived by his daughter Michelle Black of Lemont, PA, his step-daughter Lori Harrison of New Carlisle, IN and his step-son Ken Miller and wife Joanne of Finksburg, MD. He was preceded in death by his step-son Donny Miller, his brother Thomas Black and his sister Barbara Harleman.
