Obituary
Maurice S. Yeiser, 87, of Hanover and formerly of Pittsburgh, met his Eternal Rest Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Schmid) Yeiser, of Hanover.
Born January 7, 1920, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Maurice and Edith (Patrick) Yeiser, Sr.
Maurice was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, and formerly a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glenshaw, PA. He was retired from PPG Industries as a national marketing manager in the paint division. Maurice was a member of the Fox Chapel Rotary Club where he served as past president and in various other capacities. He was also an EMT who was active with the Fox Chapel Emergency Service for over ten years. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, Maurice served in Northern Africa and the European Theater. He was an avid photographer who enjoyed the outdoors, stamp collecting, traveling, and gardening.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is one daughter, Lynne Fauth and her husband David, of Aiken, SC; two sons, Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser and his wife Christy, of York, PA, and Tim Yeiser and his wife Risa, of Northridge, CA; two sisters, Louise Threan, of the Dominican Republic, and Grace Stageman, of Lake Placid, FL; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, William, and a sister, Patricia Yeiser Griffiths.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, with Rev. Matthew B. Pensinger officiating and Rev. Dr. Michael Cooper-White delivering the sermon. The family will receive friends Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. at the church. There will be no public viewing. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, where military honors will be provided by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
The Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Yeiser, David Fauth, Thaddeus Yeiser, John McCullough, Kevin Stoffell, and John Kolander.
