Dennis Owen Heiner, Sr., 75, of Hanover, PA, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Born January 13, 1947, in Delta, PA, he was the son of Stanley J. Heiner of Delta, PA, and the late Florence Wright.
Dennis was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, serving his country proudly in the US Army. During his service he received the highly distinguished Purple Heart and National Defense Service Medal, as well as a Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, two Overseas Bars, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Sharpshooter Badge, and the Marksman’s Badge for the M16 Rifle.
Dennis graduated from Kennard Dale High School. He was a retired truck driver.
Dennis was an avid camper and hunter. He enjoyed travelling, crabs, sports, NASCAR, horse racing, horse shoes, and being outdoors.
Dennis leaves behind his wife, Linda Brenneman, his five children, Dennis Owen Heiner, Jr. & wife Stacey of Wrightsville, PA, Tina (Heiner) Eaton & husband Shane of Chiefland, FL, Aaron L. Heiner & wife Cara of Dover, PA, Lisa (Heiner) Autry & husband Kenneth of Hallam, PA, and Damon A. Heiner of York, PA, three step children, Shannon Chronister of Hanover, PA, Cassandra Morrison and Jesse Morrison both of York, Pa, as well as 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Dennis also leaves behind his brothers, Dave Heiner & wife Debbie, Mike Heiner & wife Nancy, Rick Wright & wife Linda, and Glenda (Heiner) Little, all of Delta, PA; and 3 nieces & 7 nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Marquis, and a brother, Randy Heiner.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Dennis’ life will be held 11AM, Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA 17331 with the Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard detail providing military honors. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be from 10-11AM, Tuesday December 20, 2022, at the funeral home.
